Where else could you find Conrad Veidt and Sabu on the same forum page? Great stuff, ZD!

Jboogeyman, that's a very unique take on the Count. I like it a lot.
Birthday ZD, I'm glad you posted those paintings. I haven't seen Thief in a couple dogs' ages. Brings back a lot of fond memories of watching it play as a nightly serial (five day run) on TV Ontario's Magic Shadows program back in the 70s (hosted by Elwy Yost). The process is reversing itself! |

Conrad Veidt as Jaffar from THE THIEF OF BAGDADHey Zombie Dad. I have never seen this movie, but I sure like your artwork from it. Great use of color. The red really brings this one to life. One of your best. |

Thank you, Dr Borgo. I sure hope my humble efforts help get you track down and watch this movie--it's a milestone fantasy film! And please tell Sabu

I did this one many years ago. It's my take on Rick Baker's wonderfully creepy monster baby from IT'S ALIVE.

Bad news, for my Bride of frankenstein, I just cant get the right tones, or shading down, so Im moing on, and Might come back to this painting later...... MUCH later.... well for my 5th painting ever, Im having a hell of a time with it, Its making me moody, pissy, and making me enjoy art just alittle more.... JB |

That's a really beautiful piece, ZD. Love that sliver of sunlight on the horizon.
What materials did you use for this one? |

Thanks, Dr. Spyclops.
This was done entirely with pastels. I did it many years ago, but I'm sure I used my usual combination of hard nupastels and soft pastels. The paper is probably gray Mi-Teintes by Canson. The blending was done entirely with my fingers. Pastels have always been my preferred medium. I feel much more confident with them. I do miss experimenting with oils and acrylics, but they're too expensive ( brushes, canvas, turpentine, etc ) for me now and way too involved and messy for the small work space I have. ZD

ZD, my wife and I love that piece! its just jaw dropping. thanks for sharing. Well this isnt a classic Horror Icon, But my wife wanted to see if I could do it. As a Sid Haig fan I most remember him as Ralph From Spider Baby, but today hes Known mainly for This Crazy..... Captain Spaulding, Enjoy, JB

That's cool, JB! Looks just like him. While I'm not wild about the two Captain Spaulding movies, I do love Sid's make-up in them. I'd enjoy
seeing a 'Ralph' sometime too. As far as I'm concerned, there's plenty of room for recent monster art as well as our beloved classic guys. I
may try a new one myself one of these days.
And thank you and your wife for the lovely comment for my sunset (or sunrise??) on the lake piece. I think I've only got one more surviving landscape to put up. I may try new ones sometime; they're a good way to practice and learn. And I'm still learnin'. ZD |
