Bride of Frankenstein: One of the most undervalued characters in film history. How long will it be before she gets another chance to shine on the silver screen? And not in a Gothic age, or as an unscarred creature, but as a formidable woman surviving in our tense, wonderful, and uncertain new century. I believe that a godless and homeless redhead made out of cadavers, covered with scars but seeing herself as unique and eyecatching, and the possessor of a perfect human brain thanks to Dr. Pretorius, is the ideal kind of heroine for our white-knuckled age.
My name is Tim Hunt and I am the author of a Bride updating entitled Redheads and White Knuckles. In short, my Bride, renamed Ruby in honor of Elsa Lanchester's red hair, makes it to present day Boston by a loving twist of Fate, and discovers the many challenges which a redhead made out of the dead would confront in our movie-crazed and zealously religous society. But Ruby also experiences many epiphenies which a woman so new to human experience is ripe for being galvanized by. I have a top agent and my 86,000 word
manuscript is now being looked at by Putnam Books and Penguin Books. I really hope that when it gets published that so many of you Universal Monsters fans out there will read it and tell me what you thnk. For I am certain that the conjoined worlds of books and movies deserve a new take on the Bride. Remember, she doesn't have any bolts in her neck. If she wrapped her legendary hair in braids or a ponytail, and kept her scars covered, she could walk among us. Thanks for reading. Best of Luck-Frankenstein Legacy Collection on Blu-Ray-We can only pray-Tim Hunt.
