In the threads I started I said "films" were okay. The term "feature" and "short" didn't come into play until 1927 so in all reality something like HUNCHBACK or PHANTOM couldn't be included because they weren't technically called or known as "features" yet. The breakdown simply happened when the Academy Awards started handing out naked gold men.
So, if "shorts" weren't allowed then you have 23 years of movie making that wouldn't count because the first "feature" didn't happen until 1912 and there were under 10 of them. The rest were one, two or three reelers.
FRANKENSTEIN (1910) is a movie just like THE GODFATHER is. Tom and Jerry were just as much a movie to what DANCES WITH WOLVES is.
However, as I said, it should really be up to the thread starter. If there's a TV tracking list then, IMO, the tv shows should go there.
