Enjoyed it. Thank you gfanikf and Mike. And, be sure and note Mike provided an email address where we can write in and let him (and Sony) know we appreciate
(and support) the releases.

Hey Mike--the mention of Peter Lorre reminded me: Does Sony still have rights/elements to BEAT THE DEVIL? Columbia released a VHS years ago that appeared to
be mastered from original elements. Any chance of that appearing on a Sony DVD?

VERY interesting. Thanks, Mike! Thanks, website guys! Aside: Mike, the reason nobody complained about Universal not putting shorts on their Hammer release is
'cause they don't have hundreds of vintage comedy 2-reelers sitting in the vaults, untouched for decades. Sony (Columbia) does! Which reminds me: for
heaven's sake, let's get THE SPIDER'S WEB and THE SPIDER RETURNS out there, eh?

Nobody complained about extras on the Universal Hammer set because, well, we got 8 (EIGHT!!!) Hammer films for the price of one or two! Fer cryin' out
loud, man!

Mike - any chance that some of your detective series like Boston Blackie, Lone Wolf or Crime Doctor might see the light of day?

Terrific interview. I'm thrilled to death about the Toho stuff coming out - ! And it can't be said enough: thanks so much for your help in
getting these films out on disc, Mike. You're one of the genre fan's best friends!
Oh, and I definitely agree that the Americanized, "cut-up versions" of the Toho titles ain't needed - Besides, why would anyone want the cut-up versions? You don't see people buying ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA and then saying, "Aw, crap, I wanted the version that was 90 minutes shorter and re-edited in chronological order by some studio hack." We've been waiting years and years to see the original Japanese versions of many of these films. I don't understand anybody complaining they now want the American hack-job in addition (with the exception of some of the American co-productions). Save the bit-rate for the original film! |

Well, I love the U.S. version of KING KONG VS GODZILLA, as this was the one I grew up with - and it's missing some of the original Japanese footage. I
really don't care... I own both versions and I love the U.S. one by far. Same thing with the U.S. WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS. I love
the music better in both U.S. versions as well.
