Well, this will take some severe editing to get it down to 10 but here is what i came up with:
LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK 1972 (The best of the 70s docudrama films mixed with my childhood obsession with "real" monsters..and pretty damn scary too) EXORCIST 1973 (Despite all the CGI and advances in technology, the old simple tricks still work better than them all) BLACK CHRISTMAS 1974 (Loved HALLOWEEN as a kid but its overexposure and rabid merchandising has given its crown to the MUCH more startling winter slasher) LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE 1974 (Why don't more people talk about this film? Further proof slow zombies are creepier) TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 1974 (Still recall the first time i saw it and hasn't lost its edge 20+ years later) JAWS 1975 (My old drive in favorite, now my most cherished childhood movie memory since i can't enjoy the STAR WARS series as much anymore) TOURIST TRAP 1978 (My sleeper pick,a late night TV ambush if i ever saw one.I've identified this for several people when they discuss nameless films that horrified them as kids) CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST 1979 (Yes,i know almost everybody on here despises it but its unpleasantness is undiminished and not every horror film is a feel good endeavor) DAWN OF THE DEAD 1979 (A film i never tire of revisiting, when i was a kid it was THE apex of graphic violence..as an adult, the "civilizations dying" theme hasn't been beat) ZOMBIE 1979 (Greatest one sheet ever, coolest zombies ever, zombie vs shark, mindless carnage, that eyeball scene, phenomenal score, nice photography, good EC style stuff) |

Which DVD version of LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK has the best picture quality?
I've read that the old yellow one is terrible...how about the DVD that has the creek on the cover? Or the one that has a silhouette of Bigfoot? |

Koukol 5 wrote: I have the ochre colored one put out by Sterling with the great Bigfoot art of the beast standing in the creek. The print isn't HD phenomenal and the
extras non existent but i feel its a film that works well with its graininess unaltered and i have watched it several times without much complaining. Not sure
of the quality of any other release(s).

Hey Koukol (and Spoiler)! I have the Hen's Tooth Video version of "Boggy Creek", and once again, its nothing to write home about (from what
I've read, the Sterling version that Spoiler has is about the same---Avoid the "Cheezy Fliks" version at all costs!!!!)
Spoiler makes a good suggestion about pairing the two Charles Pierce films ("Boggy Creek & the overlooked "Town that Dreaded Sundown") together as a "drive-in double feature" Bryan |
