The new issue came in the mail today. You know, it's amazing how fast time goes when you get older, isn't it? I recall thinking 2 weeks or a month was
forever when I was a kid waiting for THE MONSTER TIMES and FAMOUS MONSTERS to unleash a new issue! Today, several months go by like the speed of light...
As of the first 15 minutes, all I've read was the interview with Tom Weaver and the Bruni Bros. regarding their thoughts on UNIVERSAL HORRORS. A lot of fun there. Looking forward to examining the rest! JIM: it means a lot to hear that you're in this for the heart of it more than anything. Too bad you can't make a lot of dough too, but I wish you the be$t there. It's so satisfying to know there'll be more issues of MFTV to get excited about!!

Say Jim, I can't remember if I have a subscription or if I've been picking them up as they've come out. If you would be so kind as to let me know,
I will either wait by my mail box or send my money in right away!

Got mine on Friday. As usual, the cover is so nice that I'm afraid to touch it, though it would be hard to read otherwise. Haven't had a chance to read
the whole issue yet, but the Dracula article was extremely interesting -- quite a lot there that I was never aware of.

Awesome issue, Jim. Mine arrived on Saturday. So much to look forward to. Dan's cover looked even better on the printed page. A masterpiece. For me one
of the most striking images is Sorko's visualization of the one sheet for the Dracula film that never was. He even went to the trouble of adding folds in
the poster. Incredible.

BixB wrote: And pin holes and corner tears---Sorko is indeed amazing! I'm glad the issue is starting to arrive, and hopefully everyone will have their copies by the end of the week. Daniel is already working on the next cover and I should be posting it hear in early August. I'm truly lucky to have him onboard (as well as the Mighty Sorko and everyone else who contributes to the magazine).

Imagine my joy when I walked through my doors Saturday evening, after wrapping the final day of DARK AND STORMY NIGHT, and finding a piping fresh issue of MFTV
waiting for me. Daniel Horne's cover is striking, and I'd say he's a strong contender for next year's "Artist Of The Year" Rondo.
Can't wait to see what he'll do next.
While the entire issue is strong, I was particularly taken with Mark Berry's interview with David Hedison. In past interviews, discussion of his participation in Irwin Allen's THE LOST WORLD has been typically minimal, mostly due to Hedison's disappointment with the film. But Mark may have accomplished what I've been trying to do for years - get David to embrace the film rather than reject it. Not because it's a good film, but because of it's impact on the many filmmakers, writers, artist, etc. who watched it as kids and were inspired to create. As I have mentioned to David many times (probably to his chagrin...), I always wanted to be him, the heroic Ed Malone who battles dinosaurs and risks his life to save his team of adventurer friends. Earlier this year I finally got my wish, as Larry Blamire cast me as an Ed Malone-type character in THE LOST SKELETON RETURNS AGAIN, which pokes loving fun at THE LOST WORLD and other jungle adventure films. I'm where I am in my career in some part due to Allen's campy, colorful, comic book of a movie. When Hedison tells Mark that he really plans on screening the film again, I am heartened that maybe...just maybe...he'll see the film in a better light, and appreciate it for what it is, not for what it should have been. And then I can stop pestering him at parties. Thanks, Mark, for providing an in-depth explanation of this terrific actor's feelings regarding this debatable film. And congrats Jim and Marion on another superb issue!

As always, I'm proud to be associated with Jim and MFTV. And I was completely floored by Sorko's poster for the DRACULA sequel. Wonderful, beautiful,
and amazingly detailed.

Jim:
There's really nothing else that I can add that everyone else hasn't already stated about your newest gem of an issue other than that I agree with everyone when it comes to how great # 25 is. From the wondrous Sorko cover to the interview with the Brothers Bruni and Mr. Weaver, your silver anniversary issue is another great one to be added into the collections of all Monster Kids young and old (like me; just turned 51 on May 3rd). Mega Kudoes, Mr. and Mrs. Clatterbaugh!!! Jerry By the way, Jim, if you would be so kind to PM me with my sub balance, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance....... JJ |

Unlike Gary above, I can't (yet) say "as always," but I am most emphatically proud to be associated with MFTV for the first
time, and I greatly hope that my contribution to this issue will turn out to be but one of many. Thanks so much, Jim, for welcoming me aboard!
And thank you, Frank, for your wonderful comments and compliments -- much, much appreciated. I hope all MFTV readers will enjoy the Hedison feature as much. I can't wait to dig into the issue myself! Thanks to all. Mark F. Berry And wow, what a gorgeous cover that is ... |
