Big Lots DVD blowout |
Lead | |
|
I went to Big Lots yesterday and found a motherlode of MGM and Sony DVDs for $3 each. I picked up Scanners, The Brood, the first three Amityville Horror
movies, John Carpenter's The Fog, The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane, Burnt Offerings, Jack the Giant Killer, The Magic Sword, the Moore/Cook Hound of
the Baskervilles, Karloff's The Ghoul, Swamp Thing, Foxy Brown and Fall of the House Of Usher. All for $3 each! There were lots more and I think I may be
going back. Check your local Big Lots stores, people!

Oh yeah. Post your finds, too. I'm interested to see what other stores have. I went to another one today across town to see if there were any different
titles. Yep, there were: Killer Klowns From Outer Space, the original Carrie, X- The Man With the X Ray Eyes, A Bucket Of Blood, Howling 2, Robert
Englund's Phantom of the Opera, Konga (!) and tons more. All the Pink Panther movies were there, too as well as some Superbit titles (I picked up Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

All I saw at a local Big Lots a week ago when I visited was the usual 2 rack shelves of $1 DVDs. Are these located in a certain, same section in most Big Lots.

Not all odd lots/Big Lots have the same set up. They have 20 packs of movies every so often, too. At $6.00.
A LEGEND IN MY OWN MIND....
..AND ONE IN YOURS SOON ENOUGH!!!! |

Based on Schmilsson's post, I had my first Big Lots experience this afternoon! The one near me didn't have quite the selection yours did, but I picked
up:
Killer Klowns from Outer Space The Magic Sword Paths of Glory The Saddest Music in the World, by Guy Maddin and Konga! I thought about getting Bucket of Blood, Swamp Thing but kept it closer to the vest. They also had the Amityville's, Texas Chainsaw: Next Gen., Thuderbirds Are Go (which also gave me pause) and other odds and ends. Thanks for the tip! |

After visiting Mobile's BL store, sad to say ours really didn't have much in it.Mostly straight to video stuff mixed in with 20 copies of stuff like
Gigli and The Kid Stays In The Picture.

Finally, after hitting the third BL in my area, I was able to score Antonioni's The Passenger for $3.
Also found/snapped up Dillinger (Warren Oates) Frogs Too Late The Hero Bubb Ho-Tep (special edition) Laurel Canyon Lovers And Other Strangers The Ghoul the two Amityville sequels Steamboy Blue Thunder SE Breakout Capturing The Friedmans The Business Of Strangers and Gattaca (superbit) would have picked Konga and A Minute To Pray, A Second To Die if they'd been anamorphic- but even $3 is too much for non-a now.. |

I'd like to thank whoever started this thread and tipped us off about the Big Lot blowout. I'd like to thank you for making me a little poorer today
than I was yesterday.
Like a kid in a candystore I went a little nuts. Picked up the following all for three bucks a pop: Scanners The Fog SE Steamboy Konga Prizzi's Honor The Cheap Detective Foxy Brown Slaughter's Big Rip-Off Killer Klowns From Outer Space Once Bitten Duel in the Sun Invasion of the Body Snatcvher (1976) Boxcar Bertha Groundhog Day SE Mary Shelly's Frankenstein A Bucket of Blood Manhunter The Magic Sword Jack the Giant Killer Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane Paths of Glory The Adventures of Mark Twain (Claymation feature) Blue Thunder SE The Great Train Robbery X - The Man With the X-Ray Eyes Swamp Thing House of Usher The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes Breakout (Charles Bronson) Guys & Dolls (deluxe edition) The Ghoul (Karloff) A Shot in the Dark Revenge of the Pink Panther The Pink Panther Strikes Again Trail of the Pink Panther All for $106.00! A helluva haul, and a much better deal than anything I ordered from Deep Discount lately (and I didn't have to wait for it to arrive by camel)! Cromwell |

Our local Big Lots had the dispaly but it wasn't near the usual cheap software rack so folks may have to look for it. I'd already bought 28 vhs tapes
this week and took the plunge anyway and picked up:
THE AMITYVILLE HORROR & AMITYVILLE 3 HOWLING 2 (oooh I'M gonna hate myself for this one) PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES KONGA REVENGE OF THE PINK PANTHER DUNWICH HORROR FUZZ X THE MAN WITH X RAY EYES The last two I bought in spite of picking up vhs versions of them earlier this week. May go back next week and scope out what is left.

Rats, no KONGA or X, but I got JACK GIANT KILLER, MAGIC SWORD & FROGS. I was tempted to get SLAUGHTER`S BIG RIP OFF due to Ed McMahon being the villain but didn`t. |

Went to 2 Big Lots in the area (just north of Fort Worth proper) but the only Midnite Movies I came across were Die Monster Die! and The Pit and the Pendulum
at the first (only one copy of each), nothing at the second. I also picked up a copy of The Passenger, which I have a complete set of lobby cards from back in
my Jack Nicholson collecting days.

Pop Ghoul wrote:I went back this afternoon even though the only Big Lots around me is considerably out of my way (hate to waste gas nowadays...ouch!). I wish they had the two Midnite Movies Pop Ghoul found, but mine only Konga and X-Ray Eyes. Picked up a few more Pink Panther Movies (they had all but the original and Revenge of...) two Burt Lancaster films, and Torture Garden. Still can't believe the incredible bargain of three bucks each. Hope you guys who frequent Big Lots often will sound the alarm if you see them restock other great DVD titles. Cromwell |

I stopped by a Big Lots here in CT, and nabbed SWAMP THING, THE DUNWICH HORROR and THE LAST VALLEY.
There were also multiple copies of things I already own, like THE GHOUL, KONGA, FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, THE MAGIC SWORD, FROGS, DILLINGER (Warren Oates), A MINUTE TO PRAY A SECOND TO DIE, HELL IN THE PACIFIC, John Dahl's underrated UNFORGETTABLE, THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO and THUNDERBIRD SIX. Anyone in the Chicagoland area finding any of these gems at the Big Lots they've been trying? I've been to two of them so far with no luck. IF there is
anyone having luck can they please respond here at which area stores please? Many thanks!

I went to a second store but they had far fewer than the first. And only a few titles of interest like BUCKET OF BLOOD, FROGS.
