I've always liked this fun family Halloween film, where that idiot Ernest P. Worrell accidentally unleashes a troll who is there to extract a terrible
vengence due to his earlier entrapment by Ernest's lookalike Puritan ancestor. Eartha Kitt nearly steals the show as the local eccentric who helps Ernest
stand stupidly against the supernatural. If you like Ernest at all, it's about the best of the series (only a smidgen behind Ernest Saves Christmas),
though if you've got a Vern-esq reaction to Ernest, you'll probably slam his fingers in the kitchen window and throw the DVD on the fire.

I have a stupid spot in my heart for Ernest.
Legend, oh legend, the third wheel legend...always in the way.

This is my favorite Ernest movie, and its the kind of family horror film done the right way. The beginning with Ernest making faces and showing scenes from
those 50's sci-fi/horror movies is genius.
Man, Dr. Gerard must've been brewing some of that Jekyll and Hyde joy juice
in here.

I must admit that I enjoyed his early commercials that would start with a POV shot of Vern/you washing dishes or something and you catch a glimpse of Ernest passing by outside the window. 1 second later, out of nowhere, he slams the window open and is right in your face, haranguing you about a used car lot or something. Genius.

from all those old 50s horror films (screaming skull, killer shrews and others) . I did. Very fun film on all levels.
