Hey guys! Warner Brothers has just announced the release of their Gangster Collection (Vol. 4) for September 23rd. Historically, their Film Noir collections
have been released in June or July, so unless an announcement is forthcoming REALLY soon, it looks as if there may be no set this year (BOOOOOO!!!!)
I'm not positive what films Warners themselves have, but based on their RKO film library, there are still a number of films they could potentially release (most of which have already been released on home video) such as:
"Deadline at Dawn" with Susan Hayward, the cult "B" movie,"The Devil Thumbs a Ride" with tough guy Lawrence Tierney, "Nocturne" with George Raft, the minamalist thriller "Stranger on the Third Floor" with Peter Lorre, WW2 intrigue with "Cornered" starring Dick Powell, and the underrated classic "The Window" with Arthur Kennedy and Bobby Driscoll.
Regardless of what films are ultimately chosen, hopefully Warner Brothers will not let their Film Noir collections become another "classic film casualty" that the Universal horror films appear to be becoming.
