It's a favorite of mine, and I realize, Tom, that you and Bob Burns were left to fend for yourselves at the last minute when Mr. Palmer couldn't particpate. You guys winged it pretty well under the circumstances, but I got the impression you fellas didn't particularly enjoy the film. I can tell you one thing -- I always consider WALKS as my favorite of the trilogy, but maybe that's when watching it all on its own. Because recently we had a gathering with friends and we watched all three Gill Man adventures back to back --- and it was then that WALKS felt lacking by the time it lumbered along. ---------------------- "It's MORE ... than a hobby!"

(05/17/08 6:44 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	I've seen CREATURE WALKS 62 times and I still don't quite understand Jeff Morrow's master plan for making Man ready for outer space, or how burning the Creature and then saving him proves Morrow's theory ... even though they talk about it for half the movie. I just find that stuff soooo dull. And then the only highlights in, like, the first 2/3rds of the movie are stock footage of the Gill Man from the earlier movie, and his attack on the men in the motorboat in a swimming pool in front of a process screen ..... aaarghh, shoot me now!

If I hadn't seen the movie, I would have laughed at your joking, but since I had just watched it, I thought it did a disservice to the movie by taking a point out of context. Why can't they just leave the poor guy alone? Another thing I don't get is how burning away the top layer somehow changes the Gillman from the lithe, slender swimmer we know and love into a bulky hulk. "The important question is not, are there aliens on other worlds? No. The important question is, do they have ray guns?"

Ah, the motorboat attack is one of the highlights of the whole series! As is the wild rampage by the Creature tearing the house apart at the end. Carlson's a big dope to trust the Xenomorphs IMHO -- and especially when they kidnap his girlfriend AFTER he's promised to trust them and to keep his lip zipped (which, for no good reason, he doesn't)! For me, there's a little too much unmotivated, hard-to-explain activity on ALL sides, that's there only to keep the story awkwardly lurching forward.

All this talk about the Tom Weaver commentary on It Came From Outer Space forced me off my computer and into the easy chair to watch the DVD again... I have come to the conclusion that Mr. W's speech patten is sometimes as dry as his humor and may give the impression that he is indifferent to the material. He's just not the kind of commentator who blows horns and whistles every time there is scene he wishes to explain. I, for one am happy that he gives information about the film and it's makers and not reiterate what we can see for ourselves on the screen. Not that he always likes everything in a film. He is not shy about telling you if the storyline has holes. This I like, too. It gives would-be know-it-alls, like myself a chance to type nonsense like this... Bill Schafer

They look like Mutt and Jeff in their scenes together". or another one: "Chaney gave an interview to CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN where he said he played both monsters in FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN. Chaney said 'Nobody knew about it'. Yeah, nobody knew about it beginning with Eddie Parker and Bela Lugosi, I'm sure!" At the time, I didn't really pay much attention to the plot, I'm sure, but the imagery made a big impression. I Didn't know the name of the movie for years, but my siblings and I always refered to it as "The Crawling Eye" because of the aliens. I remember imagining that when I grew up, I'd be living in a small house out in the desert like Richard Carlson's character -- perhaps I'll never feel "grown up" till I move to the desert! Rob

At two points, Queen Allura has one of her handmaidens use her "televisor" device. It's the same gadget the Richard Carlson duplicate is using in the last big scene in IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE.

IT CAME was released >after< GO TO MARS, but perhaps it was filmed first.
