Ah, the things we remember! I used to think I was the only one who remembered the White Buffalo episode of Rin Tin-Tin. Actually, I've met a couple of people over the years (like thirty) who've mentioned it. If there's a favorite "Rinty" it's gotta be White Buffalo. (I also have a recollection of the Blarney Stone episode, which was largely about Sgt. O'Hara and his obsession with either kissing it or owning a piece of it. Maybe he brought a piece of the rock and it turned out to be phony. But then a lot of TV shows had a "Blarney Stone" ep for some reason, or at least that's how I remember it.) Anyway, back to the white buffalo business: I believe Rip Masters sang a song about it, or at least that's what someone told me. I do seem to remember a refrain concerning the big beast. This ep made such a strong impression on me when I was very young that when I saw it again when I was older (like maybe ten) I watched the credits closely to catch the name of the actor who played the Indian guy (excuse me, Native American), and it was Norman Fredric (aka Dean Fredericks).

The show was rerun on one of the family or Christian channels on Saturday mornings back in the 80's, don't know what's happened to it since. I believe it's Screen Gems. The show had a good five year run, lots of Boomers remember it fondly. Lee Aaker was a likeable Rusty, probably the least cute of the 50's-60's TV kids that I can recall, which made him seem real. Poor James Brown ran into some "name trouble" afterwards (his career reminds me of Richard Webb's; two Paramount "mighta beens", both started young, neither made it in films, both enjoyed some TV success).

It makes no sense that the show is in limbo.
