Frank, I bought some of your signed pieces nearly ten years ago.Really? Ten years ago? Wow, I feel old. Did you get them on eBay or at a convention, Cap? Just curious... GREAT Marlene! I'm not one much for acrylics, only because I was trained with oils, but I've seen spectacular stuff done with them. Really good job, quite striking. Here's a guy I just can not stop drawing:

Frank, I bought the pieces from one of your eBay postings---so maybe it hasn't been quite ten years, but close! I bought the caricatures of Sr., Jr., Bela and Boris and I must have bought the first Sketchy Things book because I found it on the shelf a month or so ago. I'm looking at the Sr. Phantom piece right now. I thought that your work on it was expecially good! |

The public, bless 'em, wants a hairy face to look at, and I'm goin' to give em one even if I have to do a dozen of 'em! Right now, I'm still on the Isle of Colossa. I've been warned that there's an evil magician and a one-eyed giant, so I'm taking my time and being very careful. If I return from this voyage alive, I'll book passage once again on The Venture. That Captain Englehorn is such a sweet old lamb, and Iggy likes me better than anybody on board. ZD |

Nice, Rog!!! You really captured him! I find Phibes to be one of the most interesting horror film characters to draw. Say, that gives me an idea! Lets have a
weekly character to work on, whether a finished piece of art or just a doodle. I'll start it as a new thread - The Classic Monster Art Challenge.

Frank, thank you! I drew that Phibes several months ago when I first began to come back to life again.
The 'Weekly Character' is a terrific idea! My only problem is that I am unable to post my stuff until Jen (who lives an hour and a half away) can photograph my pics and then make them available so I can post them here. And I don't see her every weekend. The gas prices have really put the skids on our traveling to Indy--we have to save up for the Wonderfest drive. However, many other artists here seem to be able to do what I cannot and it would be a lot of fun seeing all their 'takes' on a character. Mine would just have to be late. I guess the 'Monthly Character' would be more my speed. ZD |

Super great Anton Phibes portrait, Zombie Dad! I really enjoyed the first one (what was your favorite Phibes plague/disposal? Mine was the locusts). The second
one was good, but not as clever as the original. And the first film had a hotter Vulnavia! How did she survive from the first one, though?
Keep up with the paintbrushes, pencils, and pastels there, ZD!

My Lord Caesar, thank you, thank you! It's difficult for me to pick a favorite, but I have to admit a particular fondness for the blood draining of Dr.
Longstreet because 1) The build up with Terry-Thomas and his naughty movie is so funny, and 2) I love Vinnie's popping back in frame for a second look at
that painting on the wall.

And, Jen, after admiring your watercolors of flowers I know that you are a true fine artist and was so excited to get your compliment on Marlene Dietrich that I neglected to tell you how nice Fay Wray looks! Speaking of monkeys, my in-laws got me a membership to the zoo, so I plan to visit often and practice sketching some of my favorite residents including the baboons and a delightful snaggle-toothed gibbon. |

ZD, that Gibbons Amidst the jungle Buddha collage is timeless. Inspired, no doubt, from your Thailand Peace Corps voyages.
Gibbons, as all are aware, are of the order primate (Known as the lesser apes, I like to think of them as our brachiaton-abled cousins. Lacking a prehensile tail, they are much closer to hominids than, say, cappucin bred lemurs...) Jen The Zombie. No one's ever captured Fay Wray in quite that particular pose. Like a breath of fresh air, only a woman could have done that. You have much talent, young lady. The process is reversing itself!
