BTW - We were at the Days Inn Conference Center this weekend to do measuring and last minute details. The outdoor screening of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL will have
quite a few surprises (thanks to inspiration from William Castle). If you're driving in for the Bash, an early recommendation - park in the back parking
lot facing the back woods (the rear of your vehicle facing the hotel). We'll be doing the drive-in styled screening with the screen up against the back
woods and FM transmitter for broadcasting audio. For those without a vehicle, bring blankets and we'll have a PA system for the audio as well.....

The main dealer ballroom is sold out. We confirmed that with mesurements yesterday. We do have two salon rooms that we will be using for spill-over. One really
nice addition to the ballroom will be a lot of great original paper dealers...including a 5 table spread from Steve Sally. -Ron

Noah's Auction | ||
|
We'll be doing an auction for Noah again this year. Sam Borowski will be moderating it with Noah's parents on hand. I've put out the call for
donations. We've gotten a lot of original posters, toys, DVDs, etc. But, a really cool item...(I'll have to take a photo) is of a arm replica from
the Gill-Man. The arm was sculpted and painted by Zack Zito. It includes in it, chips and pieces that have fallen off of one of Ricou Browning's original
suits (I think Zach said from REVENGE OF THE CREATURE). This thing is life-size and really cool. Also, Universal is suppose to supply s big stacjk of the
75th anniversary DRAC and FRANK DVDs for the auction (thanks Sam!).
I'm sure there will be incredible deals on really great collectibles at the auction for Noah. For those of you unaware of Monster Kid Noah and his condition, Scott (his dad) posted a recent update on his condition at www.creepyclassics.com/cctoday.html - just scroll down. Also, I believe there's a permanent thread on the boards here about dear Noah. -Ron

Monster Bash Update | ||
|
There will be a special Monster Bash Memorial Presentation with Father
Mike at Monster Bash. For those of you who haven't attended Monster Bash, Father Mike is a real priest from Ohio who also happens to be one of the biggest Bela Lugosi fans around. He normally does an early Sunday morning service for attendees that don't know the area that well and don't want to miss church....it's open to all denominations. This year it will be a Memorial Service, remembering all of our Monster Bash Alumi that have passed away since last Bash....Jeanne Carmen, Charles Griffith, Richard Valley, Ben Chapman, Hazel Court and year's past alumni too. A wonderful video presentation has been prepared that will bring a monstrous tear to the eye and make you proud of our alumni, now gone. (Thank you C.!). Also...we're into overflow dealer areas now. The huge ballroom is packed to the gill-man's gills with folks bringing Original Posters, Models and Action Figures, DVDs, Magazines, Art, Furniture (Yes - spooky furniture), Comics, Rare Toys and every Collectible monster item you can imagine. http://www.creepyclassics.com/bash.html |

Brian Nichols New Film at Bash | ||
|
Best 'o' luck to Brian Nichols and family in their pending move!
He'll still be at Monster Bash with his new movies...but, he'll be just coming off of moving. Many of us know the craziness of a move..especially when you've been married for years and have kids. Best of luck Brian! Finish DEAD AIR yet? DEAD AIR is his first "serious" spook movie that debuts at Bash. Filmed in black and white (I know Brian will have that Hitchcock touch in this). Monster Bash composer/performer Kevin Slick will be scoring the original soundtrack for it. http://www.creepyclassics.com/bash.html |

Just got back from the Monster Bash -- a day trip, up and back from Washington to Pittsburgh -- and happy to say the Bash spirit is alive and well in Butler,
Pa.
Attendance seemed to these untrained eyes as maybe a bit down -- the Horrorhound convention was also in the Pittsburgh area this weekend and dealers told me that may have affected the turnout. That, and the high cost of gas! But the dealers' tables seemed brisk, most events were pleasantly filled and the vibe was very good indeed. (Ron Adams still brings out the sheet cake on Saturday night, one of the numerous touches that make the Bash so special and warm). We saw Tom Weaver and Richard Gordon, Richard Scrivani, Mark Redfield (his One-Eyed Pony opens this July!), Max Chaney and Jane Considine -- who, with the end of the Old Dark Clubhouse at the Bash, brought food and happily fed visitors in their room. Thanks!! -- Tim Herron (in between makeups), Gord Shriver (who promised a Frankenstein performance of his own!), Jim and Marian Clatterbaugh of Monsters from the Vault, Dennis and Dylan Druktenis of Scary Monsters, conventioneers Kevin Clement and Dave Hagen, winner of loudest shirt contest Ted Bohus, Rondo Hall of Famers Cortlandt Hull and Dennis Vincent, horror hosts Penny Dreadful (also a Rondo winner), Karlos Boroff, Son of Ghoul, Chilly Billy, Gravely Macabre, the Ghoul a Go-Go gang, along with Steve Kronenberg, the Patient Creatures, John Cozzoli (of the Zombos blog), the always gracious Rick Stoner, John-Paul Checkett, Pat 'Ghoulchick' Gonzalez, Robert Taylor, Steve Thornton, auctioneer Sam Borowski, who was happily in charge of the monster auction to benefit Noah Shaeffer, and rare East Coast visits from Joe Moe and from Ron Borst, whose stories of Forry and collecting posters had us enthralled. The absence of the late Richard Valley was noted by the debut of Scarlet Magazine and many Scarlet Street board members and friends attended as well, including Susan Gordon. No lamplight pole, though. The new Scarlet Magazine is indeed its own work. Ron Adams planned a tribute to Valley, Ben Chapman and other genre losses this year, but we were on the way home by then. Hopefully other attnedess can post about it. We missed seeing Kevin Shinnick and also sadly failed to run into Donnie Dunagan, who was to speak on Sunday. We alsomet Bill Milhorn, whose Classis Movie Monster Convention in Kingsport, Tenn, THIS October is shaping up to be a full-fledged must-attend event. For more info, check out this CHFB thread: Classic Movie Monster Convention. That convention is one of the many offsprings from the continuing wonder that is the Monster Bash. Wish we had more time, but during my brief visit it's clear that Ron Adams and his crew pulled off another fine show. And next year: All things Frankenstein! david

Cleveland horror host, Son of Ghoul, was also in attendance (was this who you meant by "Son of Shock" - or that another person entirely?) - who just celebrated his 22nd (!) consecutive year on the air, making him longest-running costumed horror host. |

Well, there was that Son of Shock movie package back in the ol' days. So it's easy to see how you could juggle all those Son of (Something beginning
with an 'S') names in your head. And Son of Shock would actually be a pretty great name for a host!

My wife the CHFB photog, Eileen, wasn't able to make the Bash this year so hoping others can and will post photos here if they have some.
We also missed who received the Forry Awards. So hope others will post here as they catch their breaths. |

And while i'm here, Big thanks to all the CHFBers I got to meet at the bash this year. It's been a pleasure to get to know you all this past year from the board, and even better to meet you all in person finally. Gravely
