Captain, there a quality of mysticism about your paintngs. is this something you follow or is it just astyle you like to do? I'd like to see you do a Bela Dracula, in sort of that tarot card style. Have the caption on the bottom of the card say "The Vampire". Or Lon Jr.'s Wolf Man with the caption "The Lycanthrope" etc. etc.

My Lord Caesar, are you referring to the feel or the content? I was influenced by a lot of comic book artists, very few actual painters. So you may see some hints of Berni Wrightson, Mike Kaluta, Frank Brunner or Alex Raymond in some of my sketches. If only I could do work like they did and or do! So some creepy mystic looking stuff could come into play. I think, by the way, Wrightson is one of the best to ever work in the business.

Now, if you're talking about content, I went through a period between 1988 and the mid-90's when I was fairly psychic. I would get flashes of things that were going to happen, tell a lot of people about them, and within three days they would occur. I started playing around with the Tarot cards to find out if I could channel that ability by reading the cards. Up until then the flashes controlled me and I had no control over it. Sure enough, it worked and I became fascinated by them, as did Carl Jung. Maybe now that I'm starting to sketch again I'll go back and try to finish the deck---but it would take me a year or more to do it. I have twenty cards done and I think that there 72 in the Tarot deck.

The psychic stuff was pretty wild. I had flashes before 1988. The deaths of relatives, the assassination of Anwar Sadat. The Sadat flash was really creepy. I was in Hollywood at the stop light on Las Palmas and Sunset on a Saturday night and it was like a flashbuld went off in my eyes. I saw the entire assassination scene play out before me like a 70mm movie. I got home and told my roommates all about it and when the story aired on the noon news on Monday my roommates were pretty creeped out. They knew I had seen the event just as it happened. My description of it was exact right down to the reviewing stand tent and folding chairs. Then in the late 80's I began to see plane crashes beginning with the United flight that went down in the cornfield in Iowa. I dreamt that one and told at least a dozen people about it on Sunday---I happened the following Wednesday. There were several more like that in rapid succession. I was working at a radio station in Cleveland at the time and it got to the point where some members of the sales staff would actually call me about air travel safety before flying to meetings with out of town clients.

The one that still sends chills up and down my spine is----nah, we'll leave that story for another time. If you've read this far and really want to hear it I'll tell it to you.
