So you know I moved to Santa Cruz and no longer work for Universal Studios, but I seem drawn to spinning globes. I'm working for Global Imagination now, and our product, The Magic Planet, is showing up all over the place on TV. It's so cool. http://youtube.com/watch?v=YmyftSQvWdg This link will show you a Lockheed ad and in it, you'll see a spinning globe with a bunch of kids watching it. That's our globe. Tonight we show up in the background of one of the 20/20 segments (guess what I'll be watching on TV tonight?) and about 3 weeks ago, San Francisco local news did a story on us. And there's an 8' hemisphere on its way to the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. One of our 6' globes will be at the Olympics this year, and the Johnson & Johnson Pavillion. Loma Prieta school, here in the Santa Cruz Mountains has a 16" globe in their science classroom. The local news did a story on it a couple of weeks ago, and just today, the NBC affiliate in San Jose came over to check us out. Jimchig, thanks for posting that photo! That's either a 4' or a 5'. I can't really tell, though I think 5'. That particular globe is running a film on hurricanes. You see the legend "Katrina" there. There are 300 of our globes all over the world and we get more and more orders every week. We're growing VERY quickly. Our company figured out how to project onto the entire globe and make it go all around.... we have the patent on it now. It's really a cool place to work. I'd love to have it programmed with the world's geography and climate as a default, with occasional lapses of creatures appearing. Like sea monsters in the ocean, or giant worms crawling across continents, maybe saucers hovering 3-D like, stuff like that. Perhaps monsters chasing a tiny likeness of me across the globe. Now that would be neat. And I dare say quite possible with what I see here.
