Double-yeah! Terror of the Tongs? Phooey! Stranglers of Bombay? Obscure! Give us some horror!

It's interesting to note that "Stranglers of Bombay", as gruesome as it is, was released in the UK in January 1960 with a BBFC 'A'
certificate which meant that children under 16 could see it provided they were accompanied by a parent or guardian. I saw it when I was 11 years old. To me
"Terror of the Tongs", released the following year, was not as violent and it had an 'X' certificate which barred anybody under 16.
It is possible that "Stranglers" was passed with an 'A' because it wasn't in colour. |

"Stranglers" was the last film shot on the revamped "Dracula" exterior castle set before it was 'struck' to make way for a village
square set for "Brides of Dracula".

I'd think more people would be familiar with The Gorgon than Stranglers From Bombay. Can there really be a market for Terror of the Tongs? Especially at
Wal-Mart? Somehow, I can't see Billy Joe Bobby picking up that set and going "yee-haw, jes what's I been looking fer!"

You're frustrated because these aren't the Hammer titles you would preferred to have gotten from Sony first. That's understandable; most people on this board would probably share that opinion, including myself. But just because these are coming out doesn't mean we won't be getting the others. The more Hammer that is released, the better (unless your name is Tom Weaver).

I wonder what else might be in a Hammer/Lee/Cushing horror box set? If TERROR OF THE TONGS is in the "adventure" set, then the remaining Columbia
owned Hammer titles that feature Lee or Cushing or both should be TWO FACES OF DR. JEKYLL, TASTE OF FEAR and THE GORGON. Doesn't Sony usually do their box
sets in 4 title combinations? If so, then what might the fourth title be? Am I forgetting a Columbia owned Hammer horror with either Lee or Cushing?

The original intention was to release the "adventure" set around the same time as the third PIRATES movie, but
it became delayed. It'll be out first because it was already in the production pipeline. The next set will be horror, hopefully in time for Halloween. No
final decision on titles yet, but even without Pete and Chris, CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S TOMB might be included as a "bonus" feature, in much the same
way STRANGLERS is a "bonus" in an otherwise all-Lee set.

And the Cushing/Lee set doesn't even specifically have to be Hammer, correct? Or, even a pairing of the two in each film, ie CORRUPTION.

Haven't seen CORRUPTION in years. (And with Kate O'Mara included in the cast.)
Wait SHATTER stars Ti Lung it can't be that bad!In this case, it's not who they have, but how they use them. Even Peter Cushing's appearance almost seems like they dropped him in there just to have his name on the poster. The Anchor Bay release has an informative commentary track, discussing the troubled production. However, if you just want to see SHATTER cheap, Walmart has it on an off-brand label in their dollar DVD rack. (Meanwhile, CREATURES THE WORLD FORGOT stars Julie Ege....)

Having never seen any of these pictures, I'll be lining up for this one unless the price is ridiculous. I'm sure I'll like them.

As a bonus in a Lee-Cushing set, I'd love to see Cushing's CASH ON DEMAND. Why not? Hammer made it (unlike CORRUPTION), and Sony/Columbia owns it.
