I've found myself in an unusual position as an older adult--being a caregiver. It started with my dad, who had cardiovascular disease, two heart attacks, an amputation of his left leg (due to circulation), and a triple heart bypass. It was up to me to help out in situations that required quick responses and a little muscle--like when he passed out while using his walker or couldn't breathe because his lungs filled up with fluid instantly (pulmonary edema). Mom handled most of the everyday stuff, but as the only child in the area, I was called on to do much more than my siblings...and I was glad to do it.
I'm curious if any of you have been in similar situations.
