For my money, if you're looking for a magazine with the feel of FM 1.0, Monster Bash and Scary Monsters are the biggest and best bang(s) for the buck. Undying Monsters (for which I worked) was a great look back too. Sadly, UM is gone now. They are the magazines that carry on Forry's/Warren's feel, without ripping off, like Freaky Monsters does or (last time I looked) did. MFTV and LSOH are both fantastic at covering the movies of the classic eras while staying current in feel. No nostalgia in the read but plenty in the topics. They set the bar that everyone else limbos beneath. I will miss Jim's MFTV and wish continued success to Dick. It was a pleasure working for Phil Kim and Jessie at FM 3.0 and continues to be an honor to work with Jessie at Mondo Cult Online. I stopped FM 2.0 at issue #10, after talking to Forry on the phone and hearing his side of the story. After everything that went on with Ferry and Bean, I didn't feel I needed to hear their side. Whether right or wrong, that's the way it is. I still buy tons of Monster Mags. I like something about each of them. But, no, Freaky Monsters is of no interest to me.

Since there may only BE about ten genre mags left, that's faint praise!
(ARE there ten??)
In the Western HONKY TONK (1941), Clark Gable's wife is dying, and somebody says they'll call in the best doctor in town. Gable, upset, growls, "There IS only one doctor in town, so he's also the WORST!" But Ryan, if you meant that it's one of the top ten in history -- NOW I'm with ya.
