was eight years old. My mom stayed up to view it with me and I remember being really bored waiting f o r e v e r for the monster to show
itself. Watching it again, I found it to be an interesting little movie with a fairly ambitious climax. Yes, the monster does take f o r e v e
r to show up (about 34 minutes into the movie) and doesn't appear again until the last four or so minutes of the film, but the main characters were
interesting and likable and the subplot about sacrificing the female lead came along at just the right time, keeping me engaged in the story. I even thought
the shot of the monster emerging from the sea to be a little eerie even if crudely composited.

He SO enjoyed the experience of making this movie (his first as a producer) that he decided to make MORE movies, make it his career.
During his career, he gave early opportunities (he "discovered") half the Big Names of the NEXT generation of filmmakers and actors.
