Nine to eleven minutes into the film, the Rabbi can be seen using an invocation which includes a diagram from a scroll. Diagrammatically, this is a fairly accurate representation of the Cabalistic Tree of Life. Known as the Sephirot, it comprises ten attributes, which can be also interpreted as ten spirit-beings. The Rabbi could have been invoking, summoning one of those beings to animate the Golem.
Note also the use of astrology as the Rabbi follows Zodiacal correspondences which are clearly seen in the film-segment. Having recently purchased the Matthew Lemberger book on Cabalistic Palmistry, it certainly surprised me that the Palm-readings correspond to the Ten Sephirot. In subsequent posts, I hope to delve further into the Golem's inclusion of the Cabala. If any of you have experience with the Cabalistic Tree, it would be appreciated if you can share.
