Dracula: Prince of Darkness is my favourite, but from the list I picked Brides

Omega Man |

Horror and Science Fiction shouldn't be lumped together like this, IMHO -- should be two separate categories.
From the above list I'd pick Night of the Living Dead as best horror, and Planet of the Apes as best SF. |

Omega Man wrote: Well, it has been in all of the other polls so far regarding decades..the purpose of this is to make it a bit thought-provoking and not pigeonhole certain
films in one catagory or another..makes it harder to choose and there lies the challenge. |

Night Of The Living Dead for scaring the hell out of me, and being one of the most incredible experiences ever!

It's his poll, na na na na na nah. | ||

Picking a #1 favorite is always impossible for me, Mr. Grey Area. But I do so for poll's sake.
It's your poll, put whatever you want on the list. I picked Psycho for pure Hitchcock craftsmanship over NOTLD creepiness, which really bothered me as a kid. Heck, most of these did! See what I mean by 'grey area'? |

My favorites are PLANET OF THE APES and FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED.

Had they been on the list, I would have gone with Island Of Terror and House Of Usher.

I picked NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD off the list, but BLACK SUNDAY is pretty close behind. Of course, if THE BRAINIAC were on the list it would be a different
story altogether.

NOTLD and PSYCHO were both grueling experiences for me, but PSYCHO is the better film in my highly-regarded opinion.
Legend, oh legend, the third wheel legend...always in the way.

The sixties was a time when horror well and truly diversified and became a mainstream global phenomenon. So it's understandable a few really strong ones
don't make this list. I went for PSYCHO, but was surprised not to see HOUSE OF USHER or FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED on here.

I went with 2001. It's my second favorite film of all time. My favorite film of all time I voted for in the Best Horror/Fantasy/Sci-Fi of the 1950's
category.

I would have to say NOTLD for scarry horror, but hands down for me, Scifi would be 2001! Now together, I guess NOTLD could be classified as both in one. They
mention in the movie about scientific studies concluding about the dead coming to life??? The Zombies carry the horror! For 2001, I think somebody was on acid
to think up that one? Lol!

I voted for 2001: A Space Odyssey because it's one of the great achievements in art from the 20th
Century, but this poll is not fair because it's skewed by mixing horror with sci-fi and leaving out important films in either genre. I would have split
this poll into two separate genres.
