I was checking out the movies on creepy classics and they are selling the old 8mm films you could get for like $5,anyway i seen one i never bought called THE
CLAW MONSTERS does anyone remember this movie -i believe its about giant lobsters but i don't recall ever seeing it unless it went under a different
title.

This is the 1966 feature version of the 1955 twelve chapter serial PANTHER GIRL OF THE KONGO, starring Phyllis (Lois Lane) Coates. The title card should look
something like this:
I've not yet watched the whole serial (it's a twelve week project), but I belive it does have giant lobsters (crawfish, actually), yes. Hope that helps. Presumably you could watch the condensed feature in less than twelve weeks. You should check it out. |

Anybody have a photo of the actual crawdad monsters from the film? Where they puppets? Stop-motion? Macro-lens enlarged crawdads?

I haven't seen PANTHER GIRL OF THE KONGO in a couple decades but my memory is that it was an actual crab-like critter walking around slow amidst a bunch of
teensy plants that I guess were supposed to represent big bushes or maybe trees. I can't remember it DOING anything except just THAT, walkin' around
slow.

"Nice and slow. That's the way to do it. Nice and slow..."What a flashback! Yes, the Claw Monsters in question are optically enlarged critters...I think crawdads. (Haven't watched it in years.) I think I first saw this courtesy of the short 50' reel of Super 8 scenes from Ken Films. Had to wait for the AMC broadcast before seeing the whole serial. (Although I think it did get a VHS release from Republic Home Video.) |
