Was watching the movie last night and a bunch of things struck me.

1 - How much older poor Dwight Frye looks in his scenes. Much older than in Dead Men Walk, filmed the year after this.

2 - How exactly does Elsa know who Ygor is after he and the Monster appear at the window? Since the whole point is Ludvig keeping his family's past from everyone and she only read HENRY'S diary, and in her last scene doesn't recognize the character....errr....????

3 - I realize it's Cloestine is a dummy...

I think some of the set pieces in GHOST are unique to the series. Roaming with outstretched arms in the lightning storm is an iconic vision etched in our
FRANKENSTEIN psyche. The scene of the bewildered Monster and the geese, is one of my all time favorite in the series.

And the Monster lumbering through those hallways by the laboratory, really had a feeling of danger.I think the cramped sets brought the Monster closer into our
livingrooms. Was this also the third longest screen...

It is quite understandable that the Lonster of Ghost is stiff and mute. I mean, the monster was never given much of an education to begin with and was at his
mental peak, in Bride, still not much of a talker. After that, he spends most of his time in a coma before being breiefly revived in SOF, and then in a
comatose state encased in sulfer (I wonder what was going through his mind all that time, "hey, this really sucks!" or "1x1=1, 2x1=..., crap, I
never got that far!...

for me. It was one of the last I got around to seeing when I was a kid, for some reason.

I'm fairly convinced of Chaney being directed to play it stiffly and without discernible emotion, on account of The Monster's "sickness"
on the one hand...and perhaps, whether it's fair or not, Universal's wariness of their new Master Character Creator's acting ability on the other.
That might go some way toward explaining why Glenn Strange was for the most part left comatose and lounging on operating tables during his trio of
appearances.

I kinda like the Lonster - not the best performance or interpritation of the Monster, but Skelton makes some good points.

Keep in mind, the Monster has been knocked about quite a bit by GHOST, so a stiff, emotionless Monster kinda makes sense.

I can sit and watch, depending on my mood, any old Universal and love it. No questions asked. I know GHOST has taken a bit of hit on these boards, but I still
love it. I don't hold Chaney responsible for Karloff turning in his bolts.
