        <![CDATA[ As some of you may know, a lot of silents had alternate negatives featuring alternate angles and takes which would be the basis for export versions. I always found this practice fascinating, even though it opens up the likelihood of a ton of likely missing versions and makes it difficult to reconstruct how a film would have originally looked in its country of origin if the domestic negative is incomplete or lost.I think it would make an interesting thread to discuss these alternate negatives... ]]>

From what I'm told, Library of Congress has the camera neg on the B&W version of DR. X, and new prints of the color version have turned up, so I hope WB does something with it. ]]></description>
