The UK disc was released by Ilc Prime, an outfit I never encountered before. Amazon.uk don't stock the film themselves but there are copies availalbe via marketplace at bargain prices. It's also available for rental.

The full-screen transfer looks fine but the film itself struck me as a missed opportunity. Some interesting ideas and images but not much else.

I thought I would add that the incredibly cheap UK DVD looks great although it's full screen.

Luis, Amazon UK recognises your Amazon US account, you use the same password. I order for Amazon US,UK, DE and CA all the time with the same account.
As far as the UK DVD goes...I don't know if it's a bootleg,(I just ordered it 4 days ago) But my guess is the US one is a bootleg...I read that Brazil and Asia DVDs are not to be trusted.

Guys I do have a couple of multi-region free DVD players but I thought the UK disc was also a bootleg with such a ridiculously low price so I figure I'm better off buying one from a US vendor on Amazon.com than having to create an account on Amazon.co.uk, So is the UK DVD worth the hassle?

A reviewer said the dvd came from Asia so I would say... yes it's a bootleg.
You can get the DVD for next to nothing at Amazon UK.

Well Various third party vendors on Amazon are selling this film (no artwork shown) and my guess it's a bootleg has anyone here bought this?

I can't say much in praise of SUGAR HILL, it had potential but is a major misfire.
Turner Classic Movies will run this at the end of the month as part of their Underground series. The recent MGM remaster has been on cable for years and looks OK, so until a DVD release arrives, this is the best way to see the film.

It looks open matte with a slight zoomboxing on the Orion Transfer. It was probably shot with future television airings in mind. It was originally rated PG and, even for the standards of PG ratings at the time, is pretty tame fare. Still, a great matinee / rainy afternoon movie.

I didn't know about the region 2. I know the HK was region 0 and looked pretty dodgy... even for the $6.00 that was offered for it. That's why I passed.

Well, if it's PAL, it's definitely not from Asia (at least not from Hong Kong, Korea or Japan). UK and Europe are all PAL, as far as I know. My guess would be it's from the UK.

Looking it up it is a Region 0 PAL disc from Prime. So where they are from ya got me.

One reviewer said that it looks like it was shot open matte. Again I haven't seen the film or the dvd.

There was/is a gray market HK release that you might be able to get if you troll around the Asian DVD online stores.

I was lucky enough to buy the VHS back whrn Orion put it out, so I made my own DVD.

Has anybody seen this? Is it out on DVD in a legit version (or, I guess any version)?

I've been looking for this blaxploitation zombie film for a long time, ever since I saw super-creepy stills of it in Marvel's Tales of the Zombie magazine... great looking Hatian zombie makeup, and the storyline sounds like fun, zombies versus the mob.
