Only the two horned Cyclops that fought the dragon was built over the foot tall Ymir armature, the main single horned Cyclops was made new..... and yes, Ray would cut corners where he could to make animating a little easier, 2 less fingers to deal with......

The cyclops is a great likeness and tribute----I'm trying to imagine the greenscreened elements. Did Harryhausen choose to 'Mickeymouse' the hands for ease of animation [fewer digits] or just because it looked cool I wonder?
