The film LISA starring D. W. Moffett and Shawnee Smith was also a remake of this film, and a pretty good one as I recall.

This is one of my all time favorites. It is just a fun, fun movie. I recently showed it to one of my more cynical (read: doesn't like old black and white movies) buddies and he actually jumped during a couple of the tense spots.
