I think it's a thoughtfully crafted giant monster movie with some amazing set pieces. I only saw the the last ten minutes or so of GODZILLA when I was a kid, so it isn't nostalgia that compels me to rate it so highly, but rather an objective assessment of its strengths as a film and as a giant monster movie.
