There was an OB stage musical version of FORBIDDEN PLANET (called, appropriately, RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET). Morbius sang "The Monster Mash", Alta sang "Teenager In Love", and the audiences loved it.
There's also the musical version of EVIL DEAD.
Although I'm loathe to hope... who knows? Maybe CREATURE won't be as bad as it sounds.

I'm happy to see any classic monster related attractions at Universal theme parks. I was always disappointed by the scarcity of the classic creatures on my trips to the Florida Universal.

Hoping for a good Creature suit may be a lost cause. It would depend on how active the Creature is in the action going on in the musical. Is he going to tap dance? That's the whimsical question, but the real question is what the actor inside the suit is going to be required to do. A good friend of mine did all of the Batman costumes for the Six Flags amusement parks all over the country and even a couple of amusement parks outside of the country. His suits looked great. But consideration...

I'm afraid, having seen most of their shows to date, that this 20 minute production will be filled with a little Rock, a lot of Techno and way too much dancing. Campy jokes (lip synced to a pre recorded track) and explosions will follow. We can only hope for a good creature suit.

soundstage28, you're kidding, right? This big budget Broadway type production with production values and special effects is basically going to be loaded with parody songs? Seems to me then that the most appropriate one would be the third from the bottom of your list, "Where Have All the Laemmles Gone?"

I don't think a lampoon will do anything to build up the esteem of the classic monsters. Didn't they learn anything from Van Helsing?
