I can't wait for season 2, I really enjoyed the season 1 box. 'Shadows on the wall' and 'Big Surprise' were great fun. Like previous posters have said your mileage varies (the blood bank one? what on Earth?) but there are some real gems in there. Bring them on Universal!

This show came on when I was very small, and I barely remember watching a few episodes with my mother. It scared the CRAP out of me as a kid; I remember even being creeped out by the music. But I still watched.

Right now I'm finishing up watching the third disc of Season 1 on DVD; can't remember any of these episodes. Hopefully season 2 will have some of the few snippets I remember.

I always loved this show. My favourite episodes were (I don't know the titles),....

1.The one where that one fellow keeps washing the spider down the sink, and it keeps coming back up bigger and bigger until it's giant sized and comes after him.

2.The episode where a nephew(?) kills his old rich uncle for his inheritance, and then sees him rising from his grave (which is right outside the family mansion) and coming towards the house in a painting near the...

I shouldn't be so fond of Night Gallery because it scared the bejesus out of me as a kid and caused several sleepless nights. Going back and seeing all the episodes years later, I found that while it was inconsistent, it was at the same time amazingly creative and frequently brilliant. There is a dark and malevolent mood to this series at its best that none of the earlier or later anthologies match, in my opinion. Because it did come in the early 70s when standard had relaxed...

You gotta be reeeally hungry to pig out it the immediate presence of a rotting corpse. Yum.

Some of the best painings were for some of the worst episodes- this one for A Midnight Visit To A Neighborhood Blood Bank is one of my favorites.

Does anybody have some faves? Not necessarily the best episodes, but the best Tom Wright...

Thanks, Opticalguy. I've seen the episodes you mentioned, and they are among the best. The gimmicky John Carradine shortie, Big Surprise, is nicely done. An uncharacteristically heartwarming one, The Messiah On Mott Street, featuring one of Edward G. Robinson's last performances, is also very good, closer in spirit to The Twilight Zone (can't imagine why) than NG. The show did Lovecraft well, maybe the best...

The NG that stands out in my memory as the most spooky and atmospheric is (In think this is the title) The Sin Eater, set in the Wales of like five hundred or more years ago, all fog and gnarled trees, in which Richard Thomas goes a-gatherin' for his father's funeral. Excellent all-round; Alan Napier appears uncredited. Thomas, not my favorite actor, is perfect for this one, as he and the episode truly deliver the goods in the end. Truly chilling...

I caught the episode Pickman's Model on the Chiller channel a few days ago. Pretty scary. But what caught my eye was what looked like the Universal Studios European village set. Night Gallery was a Universal production, so this was in fact the set wasn't it?
