Sadly, if this is the case -- Copner will still got to prison. California doesn't have the budget for psychiatric care for prisoners, hence the high recidivism rate.

He wants money for a schmancier lawyer and a better shot at freedom. I don't know WHAT I'd want if I were him. Three hots and a cot has got to be better than living in a Pasadena alley in back of some Dumpster, or wherever he'd probably end up.

It's nice to think that maybe he's also getting some medical attention behind those high gray walls.

I guess he knows better than to write to me. And why he has legal fees is beyond me. The man is indigant, no? "If you wish one and cannot afford one, a lawyer will be appointed to you." So, ya' know. We're ALL paying his damned legal fees.

Welllll, some people are hearing from him -- by mail -- asking for a$$istance when his trial comes up and he's got legal fees. I wouldn't know what to do if a friend in that situation asked. Nobody wants to be "inside" but with his health problems and "anger management issues," does he really belong "outside"?

I spoke with Eric today. The trial hasn't yet come up on the docket but when it does, Eric's ready to go in and have his day in court.

I was saddened to learn that it was from alcoholism, and at such a young age. I haven't heard from Copner -- the eerie thing was that I had my picture taken with him mere months before the incident with Eric.

What did happed to Guy Tucker Mariner? I spoke to Cult Movies' Coco just a few days ago -- she's doing well --

Glad to hear Coco is well; haven't talked to her in years. And, obviously, she's doing far better than Guy Tucker, who's been dead since 2006.

I'd like to know the latest on Mike Copner, however. Did he ever have his day in court?

As disturbing as the whole story is already an extra element of oddness was added by hearing a small child in the background throughout the video retelling.

I only know Eric Caidin from a weekend here at a Dallas fan convention. He needed somebody locally to help him set up his booth and run 16mm films for him. A mutual friend of ours suggested me. I don't know why I took the job, other than that I was free that weekend. Eric was very laid back and he treated me generously....

Anita and I stopped by the shop and spent some time with Eric while we were in L.A. He looked great and was in fine spirits. He did ask me to refer people to that YouTube interview for his side of the story, which he says includes everything he has to say about the matter for now.
