Hazel Court Passes 4/15/08

It is with great regret I write these words that Monster Bash Guest Hazel Court has passed away this morning. As of last week she seemed healthy and was in
great spirits and ready to come to Monster Bash. We lose another classic film star to the celluloid heavens.

I had many wonderful phone conversations with this dear woman who had ties to State Colege, PA where I grew up and Vandergrift, PA where my wife grew
up.

Someone on the paper must be a classic horror fan. As is too often the case, this wonderful actress seems to be getting most of her acclaim only after death.
Very sad, very poignant.

I remember a few years back the American Cinematheque was scheduled to show the 1950 film SHAKEDOWN as part of their film noir series. They were sent THE
SHAKEDOWN (1959) by mistake, with Ms. Court as a policewoman working undercover to expose a modeling agency that is a front for prostitution. She's just
drop-dead gorgeous in it, even more so than in her horror films, and her performance is very good despite a fairly reoutine B-movie script.
