A beautiful piece, Tom, concentrating on the many things that Hazel Court did in her life. I liked the bit about her sculpting, as I'm not sure how many people,outside of here, know about that.

Franz was a complicated, unhappy guy, particularly in his later years. In doing an obit on him, I spoke with an intimate and found out considerably more that I bargained for. I believe Tom had a truncated chat with him at one point.

I'm late posting, but Hazel Court was a beautiful and talented woman who always made each film she was in better for it. Just adding myself on the list of fans as you guys have already done a wonderful job praising her, and may she rest in peace.

That is a wonderful and informative remembrance, Tom. Interesting to hear the kind words from Olive Sturgess as well, I was just wondering the proverbial "Whatever became of..." her when re-watching THE RAVEN.

It's intriguing to note from Tom's obit that Hazel Court seems to have been born in Handsworth, and not in Sutton Coldfield, as has traditionally been claimed. Although they're only a couple of miles apart, the two locations enjoy quite different reputations, with the latter considered altogether 'more refined'. I can't help but wonder whether the 'Sutton Coldfield' claim originated in the efforts of British publicists trying to make her background sound less...

It was absolutely stunning to open the UK's Sunday Times and find an enormous tribute to Hazel Court on page three, filling every last bit of it up. Someone on the paper must be a classic horror fan. As is too often the case, this wonderful actress seems to be getting most of her acclaim only after death. Very sad, very poignant.

I remember a few years back the American Cinematheque was scheduled to show the 1950 film SHAKEDOWN as part of their film noir series. They were sent THE SHAKEDOWN (1959) by mistake, with Ms. Court as a policewoman working undercover to expose a modeling agency that is a front for prostitution. She's just drop-dead gorgeous in it, even more so than in her horror films, and her performance is very good despite a fairly reoutine B-movie script.

Having just completed the design work on her Autobiography I was saddened and shocked to hear of her passing. The artwork was at the printers the week she passed. Sadly she never got to see the completed book - which I hope is a lasting tribute to her and her career. She did get to see the proofs however - I know the publisher Bruce Sachs at Tomahawk had been working on it with her off and on for about ten years...
