No offense meant, but they included Maila Nurmi and left out Susanna Foster, Beverly Garland, and Patrick McGoohan?

Maybe she had a friend in the production team. I fail to see why she was included, frankly. A couple of Ed Wood films...

For those who may not have seen the Academy Awards tonight, Ms. Nurmi was honored in the remembrance portion of the show, captioned as both Maila Nurmi and Vampira. Unfortunately, Forry was not among the honorees.

I am currently putting the entire E Mysteries and Scandals on DVD for a friend, and in the episode on Mae West, there's Vampira!

She was so articulate and interesting. Several of the Ed Wood people were/are idiots, but it was always a pleasure to listen to Maila talk about anything.

IN IMDB HES LISTED AS ARANYA HENCHMAN, SO THAT MEANS HES IN THE BACKGROUND SOMEWHERE, PROBABLY WITH FEW LINES. I WILL HAVE TO REWATCH THAT AND SEE IF I CAN SPOT HIM.

I find it odd that not one obituary mentioned that she married actor Fabrizio Mioni in 1961. I added this fact to Nurmi's Wikipedia biography.

Yeah, apparently so, and with acting credits back to his childhood in the silent days. Such a loooong career makes me want to know a little more about him -- starting with the burning question, where is he in MESA?? ; )

Various news outlets are today carrying versions of an obituary provided by the Associated Press, which is factually questionable on a couple of points, and which gives a different date of birth for Maila.

A few months ago Doc Martin 4, as he is known here, asked me to contibute a collage portrait of any classic horror monster or actor for the back cover of the new issue of MAD SCIENTIST. I was told I could choose anything I wanted to. After a lot of anguished decision making, I chose Vampira. I've never had the good fortune of meeting her, nor seeing her program. All I know of her is from interviews, the photographs, and her performance in "Plan 9." I'm guessing this is true...
