Other versions of the War of the Worlds

Well, with this being the 75 anniversary of old OW's prank to america (it IS 75 years, isn't it?), I was wondering about other versions. I've heard the one done in Buffalo in the 1970's (which I REALLY liked) and the LA one starring most of the actors from Star Trek and ST:TNG, but are there others availaable?

By the way, I will start to compile a list of characters who have received radio adaptations post-1950. I will only include audiobooks if they featured more than one person or sound effects. I know that a Fantastic Four radio show came out with Bill Murray, that Simon and Shuster did at least one Spider-Man audiobook with sound effects, the BBC has done recent Superman, Batman, et al. adaptations, and that a Kingdom Come...

Looking for the title of a series

I'm trying to find the name of an audiobook series for children, that only partly qualifies as horror. It was an early or mid- ' 60 series on LP, of famous stories read by Hanna-Barbera characters (!). One was The Wizard of Oz read by Snagglepuss, one was The Three Musketeers, and one was (I think) Sleepy Hollow. Can anyone identify this series?

As I type this, I'm listening to a radio show from1952 entitled- THE SECRETS OF SCOTLAND YARD. It was hosted by a Sherlock from the early 30's- Clive Brook. I never really heard about this show before. It reminds me very much of the Harry Allan Towers produced show- THE BLACK MUSEUM, with host Orson Welles. Another show I wonder about is-

This week over at Rue Morgue Radio http://ruemorgueradio.com/ they have a pretty good hour
show dealing with the new Hell Boy flick. The reviews are good, there is a decent telephone
interview with Guillermo Del Toro, and some nice music: Danny Elfman, Bernard Hermann,
Nick Cave, Marco Beltrami to name a few.

I have found a website that has 22,000 episodes of old radio shows from the 1930s, 40s and 50s. This is the site address http://40sradiomysteries.com/ You can put up to 50 hours worth of radio shows on a single CD. I bought an mp3 player back in 2006 and put a gig of radio shows on it that I bought from this site. I drove from California to Kentucky and never heard the same show twice.
I was amazed.

I have this audio CD "Adventures in Old Time Radio, and its "Frankenstein"
its a great little gem, that i love to listein to every now and then, it has 2 verson of "frankenstein" one is from 2-20-44 and the other is from 6-7-55
Its complete and unedited from "The Weird Circle and Suspense Radio programs.
Wondering if any one else has this, or any others... like to know what you think of them.

Tuesday, May 27th would've been Vincent Price's 97th birthday. (He died in 1993 at the age of 82).

In honour of his birthday, writer Lucy Chase Williams joined me on CINEPHOBIA last Friday to pay tribute to the man's life and work.

I was watching THE 7th VOYAGE OF SINBAD on TCM last week, and I was reminded of the mutiny scene when Sinbad knocks Golar out of his cabin. The sound effect used was a combination "thud" and a voice saying "uhh!". I knew I heard that self same effect before. It was used in many a Three Stooges comedy (also by Columbia Pictures).

There was also another instance in PLANET OF THE APES when Heston throws a gorilla who had a hold of him with a snare down the stone...
