I just saw this new movie today. It is based upon a short story by the great Richard Matheson entitled "Button, Button". The movie initially plays
like a Twilight Zone episode but then comes a bit off the trackts and I think turns into oncoming traffic. I liked the 1st half better than the 2nd. It's
well acted and Frank Langella is great but overall I'm not sure many will like this movie. I left the theater a bit disappointed - wanting more. I'm
not sure so...

Just got back from the LA premiere (?) of Joe Dante's new pic THE HOLE. I don't want any of the plot away, but it's Dante's great blend of
comedy and horror brought back again for a really quality production, supported by a talented cast (including Dick Miller and Bruce Dern) and some wonderful
special effects. Behind the guise of a kid's film, Dante handles some fairly strong material with great care. It's only weak point is its (at times
unbelievable) dialog, but...

Knowing that some people are aware of my crusade against what I call "needless modern remakes of already modern-enough movies," I'm guessing they
may very well ask why I bothered seeing a new version of the 1987 original (which was already a good horror-thriller as it stood). Well, my wife and our
friends wanted to go to the movies and we'd already seen PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and SAW VI. Also, during one of those other recent trips to the theater I had

Watched it last night on an HDNet preview. Hearty recommendations from me. The films title pretty much tells you what to expect. An 80's setting with a
70's horror vibe. A college girl takes a babysitting job in a big spooky house with spooky inhabitants. Well cast with Tom Noonan(Manhunter) and Mary
Woronov(Deathrace, Eating Raoul). On the night of a lunar eclipse. It is not a good choice for folks with movie ADHD as it builds slowly without a lot of gore
or exploition to propel it...

films, many of them horror and science fiction films (but by no means all--its referencing of films is near encyclopedic, from All About Eve to
Cabaret). I thought it was very funny and liked it, but it is by no means for everyone. It makes casual and extensive reference to porn throughout. It
was rated R by the MPAA, but...
