			<description><![CDATA[ I just got an Ansco print of Monogram&#39;s 16 FATHOMS DEEP, made in 1948 on Location in Tarpon Springs, Fl.  Chaney plays &quot;Mr. Dimitri&quot; the local
bully who has the sponge market cornered.  Lon looked like he just walked off the set of THE WOLF MAN.  In fact, it looks like he&#39;s wearing the same suit
that he wore at the beginning of that picture.  Aside from a few years, Chaney looked great and the film is a nice little adventure (with Lloyd Bridges and
Arthur Lake).

Lagoon is his favorite (he owns a original one sheet) and describes Bride of Frankenstein as a classic. He also goes on to say that he looks at Boris Karloff
as &quot;his uncle&quot; because he feels so comfortable and at ease with the old horror films. Interesting read.

			<description><![CDATA[ Who else?  Carl Laemmle Jr. was certainly aware of the film &amp; performance-- hey, they had a pristine print of Nosferatu at the studio.  Learning lines
phonetically didn&#39;t stop Lugosi when he started out in the US.  And if Count Dracula sounds a little stilted, all the better.

In the same way that Bela Lugosi kept getting hauled back to do a riff on his stage &amp; film performance, why not Schreck?  It was only 9 or 10 years since
