Why the wolfbane in WOLF MAN?

In the novel and 1931 film of DRACULA, wolfbane has a definite if minor purpose: it wards off vampires to some extent.

In THE WOLF MAN, it really doesn't seem to serve any story purpose. Tom Weaver's commentary on the recent DVD issue mentions that Bela the Werewolf doesn't seem to have been appreciably helped by his mama's pentagram-charm while he was with the caravan, but we don't know how long Bela may've gone w/o changing.

Is it possible...

An e-Bay seller lists this photo as being from The Mummy's Ghost.

I was thinking it looked more like the Route 66 TV episode "Lizard's Leg And Owlets Wing".

I don't have any specialized books like Universal Horrors, so could the assembled minds here fill me in on this lost-ed film? Did it predate DRACULA as an unapologetic supernatural thriller, or did they laugh stuff off with comedy relief ala Lee Tracy or Glenda Farrell at WB?

...does anyone have info on projects that Karloff wanted to do at Universal, but never materialized? With his star status, surely he tried to use some of his pull to go in a different direction. Or did he not bother and just gladly accepted offers that came his way?

Ghost of frankenstein

In ghost of Frankenstein we have dr. Ludwig Frankenstein, in theory the brother of Wolf... but in reality Ludwig is the little brother of the original Henry Frankenstein.

Ludwig says what the monster killed his father and send his brother to exile.

Well... old baron Frankenstein of the first movie died after the end of the 1931 film, and Henry (ludwig`s big brother) was sent into exile after BRIDE.

I have always wondered what the '31 Frankenstein makeup would look like with the same burn marks, singed hair, etc, as '35. The changed elements in the '35 makeup - particularly the too-alive eyes - have always detracted from the Monster, making him look TOO human, imo (which was probably the Whale's point). Would anyone here have the time and interest in taking a shot of the '31 Monster (the first front-on doorway shot would be a good one) and touching it up as if he went...
