This year's Rondo Ceremony at Wonderfest was two hours of, well, wonder. There were monsters in full make-up, genre icons, video tributes, moments of emotion and lots of laughter. It was truly amazing how far some people came -- winners came from California and Massachusetts to Louisville -- and how seriously everyone took the event.

Like most of us, I guess I thought of acromegaly as something that Rondo Hatton contracted in WW1, or the subject of THE MONSTER MAKER (1944 PRC). Safely in the past. But tonight on the news they did a story about some local bartender who has it, and it is now treatable with medicine. They also said it can cause blindness, which I never knew. Did Rondo's eyesight ever suffer?

If one of Scary Terry Beatty's covers is once again nominated this year I would request that the complete wraparound painted cover be shown rather than just the front portion of the cover. These three categories -- Best Commentary, Best DVD Extra and Best Restoration -- are always challenging because even the craziest of us can't have seen or heard everything.
